Peter Amato is a Teaching Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Programs in Philosophy at Drexel University, co-directing the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics program. He holds a PhD from Fordham University (1998), an MA in Anthropology from Hunter College (1993), and a BA in Anthropology from Fordham University (1984). His research focuses on ethics, Marxism, continental philosophy, social and political philosophy, and African philosophy, with a particular interest in philosophical hermeneutics. His work critiques modern frameworks and explores African philosophical traditions, vernacular rationality, and the ethical dimensions of social existence. He is affiliated with Drexel’s Center for Science, Technology and Society.
