Pete Malinverni

Pete Malinverni is a Professor of Jazz Studies at the Conservatory of Music, Purchase College, SUNY. He also teaches at New York University and William Paterson University, focusing on jazz performance, composition, and music education. A native of Niagara Falls, NY, he holds a BM from SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music and an MM from Purchase College.

Malinverni’s research and creative work emphasize jazz improvisation, piano performance, and the intersection of religious music with jazz. His compositions, including suites like 'Make a Joyful Noise' and 'Oh, My Soul,' blend sacred themes with jazz quartet arrangements. He has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and Meet the Composer Foundation, supporting his innovative works.
