Linda May Han Oh is an Associate Professor in the Bass Department at Berklee College of Music. Born in Malaysia and raised in Perth, Western Australia, she is currently based in New York City and has established herself as a GRAMMY award-winning bassist and composer who has performed with jazz luminaries including Pat Metheny, Kenny Barron, Joe Lovano, Dave Douglas, and Terri Lyne Carrington.
Her research interests span jazz composition, bass performance techniques, cross-cultural musical exploration (particularly Korean traditional music), film scoring, and innovative music education methodologies. Oh's work demonstrates a commitment to pushing boundaries while honoring jazz traditions, often incorporating visual art inspiration and cross-genre elements into her compositions.
Her discography as a leader includes five critically acclaimed albums: Entry (2009), Initial Here (2012), Sun Pictures (2013), Walk Against Wind (2017), and Aventurine (2019). Her compositions frequently explore the intersection of visual art and music, with works inspired by Rothko paintings and personal travel experiences. Recent commissions include Littoral Tales for solo piano, Ephemeral Echoes for percussion and piano trios, and Mirrors and Shadows for piano-bass duo.
Oh has received numerous honors including:

As an educator, Oh has taught at Manhattan School of Music's precollege program, the New School, and Berklee College of Music. She has also created educational content for the BassGuru app. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes building fundamental skills while fostering creative thinking and resourcefulness that extends beyond formal education.
Oh has also made significant contributions to film music, scoring "Sorority Story" and contributing to documentaries about aspiring African women in the film industry. She was featured as the model for the bassist character "Miho" in Pixar's "Soul" (2020).
