Pete Jordan is a Researcher and Research Director at the Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion, University of Oxford. His work focuses on the intersection of religious thought, natural sciences, and political economy in Christian intellectual history.
Research Interests
Dr. Jordan explores how Christians from the early modern era to the present engage with scientific concepts and economic theories to articulate their theological frameworks. Central themes include the interplay between providence, natural causality, and naturalistic explanations in early modern England, as well as the integration of religious ideas with scientific and economic systems.
Notable Works
His first monograph (CUP, 2022) analyzes early modern Christian engagements with naturalism and causality. A second book under contract with OUP examines the worldview of philanthropist John Templeton, spanning religious, scientific, and political-economic dimensions.
Advisory Work
