Pero G. Dagbovie holds multiple leadership roles at Michigan State University as Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, Dean of the Graduate School, and University Distinguished Professor in the Department of History (College of Social Science). His expertise spans African American History, U.S. History, Intellectual History, and the Philosophy of History.
He has authored seven books and numerous articles, serving as former editor of The Journal of African American History. His public history work includes consulting on major projects like the Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site and the Charles H. Wright Museum's "And Still We Rise" exhibit. He also advises K-12 curriculum development and teacher training programs funded by federal and state agencies.
Dagbovie mentors students through programs like the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, supporting underrepresented scholars. He leads graduate student advising, with many protégés now in academic roles.
