Pernille Wisti is a Part-Time Lecturer at the Department of Sociology and Social Work, Aalborg University, affiliated with The Organizational Sociology Research Group (OrgSoc). Her work focuses on practice research methodologies and the experiences of social workers with lived service user backgrounds. She employs qualitative approaches to explore positional identities and bodily experiences within social work practice.
Her research investigates how social workers navigate multiple roles (e.g., mental health service users, former substance abusers) and examines legitimacy boundaries in professional practice. She has contributed to developing practice research frameworks through collaborative projects with practitioners.
Wisti has conducted institutional ethnographic studies on foster care support services and participated in international conferences such as the 6th International Conference on Practice Research in Social Work (2023). She completed a PhD funded by Aalborg University under supervision of Associate Professor Ninna Meier. Professional development includes visiting researcher stays at UC Berkeley (2019) and University of Helsinki (2018).
