Per Vesterlund is a Senior Lecturer in film studies at Gävle University, specializing in media history, cultural policy, and Swedish film history. His research focuses on archival studies, television history, and the social/political motifs in Swedish TV dramas. He holds a doctoral degree from Stockholm University (2000) with a thesis on filmmaker Erik 'Hampe' Faustman.
His key works include biographies of film figure Harry Schein and analyses of Swedish media history through archival research. He has edited influential anthologies like Citizen Schein (2010) and Massmedieproblem (2015). Current projects explore the history of Swedish media research and 1960s-70s TV drama themes. Funded by the Swedish Research Council (2010–2013), his work bridges academic research with cultural policy analysis.
