Per Olsson is the Dean of Faculty and Research and the DHL Group Professor in Sustainable Accounting at ESMT Berlin. He previously held the Deutsche Bank Professorship in Sustainable Finance (2021-2022) and directed the Center for Financial Reporting and Auditing (2015-2022). Prior to ESMT, he served at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business (2001-2015) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a visiting professor at the Stockholm School of Economics and Swedish House of Finance (2009-2018).

His research focuses on financial accounting, capital markets, and sustainable accounting. He is a leading scholar in earnings quality, frequently speaking at academic and industry events. Olsson is an award-winning educator in MBA and master’s programs. He oversees the ESMT Institute for Sustainable Transformation and has held visiting scholar roles globally. His work bridges accounting theory with practical implications for corporate transparency and sustainability.
