Per-Johan Dahl is an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture and Built Environment at Lund University. He is also a board member of the Research Institute for Experimental Architecture and co-founder of smogstudio, a research-oriented design practice. With a Ph.D. in Architecture from UCLA and an MArch from Lund University, he has taught at institutions across Europe, Hong Kong, the Middle East, and the U.S.
His research explores architecture in urbanization, focusing on new modes of design thinking, urban form politics, and emergent building types. He has conducted post-doctoral work at Columbia University and maintains affiliations with professional bodies like Architects Sweden (SAR/MSA), AIA, and HKIA.
Recent research outputs highlight collaborations in transdisciplinary urban studies, social sustainability, and play-based democratic design. His work intersects with UN SDGs, particularly urban sustainable development and social inclusion.
Per-Johan Dahl's projects include Urban Arena (2022–present) and Network SPARK (2022–present), while recent activities feature visiting researcher roles at University of Stuttgart (2025) and RMIT University (2024).
