Per-Eric Lindgren is a Professor and Head of Division at Linköping University's Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV), affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. He leads the Division of Inflammation and Infection (II), which focuses on immunology, rheumatology, pathology, and microbiology. His research emphasizes tick-borne pathogens, Lyme borreliosis treatment optimization, and diagnostic methodologies for infectious diseases.
Key research interests include understanding microbial infection mechanisms, improving diagnostic accuracy through peptide-based panels, and evaluating antibiotic therapy efficacy. Recent work involves systematic reviews on Lyme disease treatment durations and epidemiological studies on Ixodes ricinus ticks in southern Sweden.
Prof. Lindgren collaborates internationally, evidenced by co-authored publications with researchers from France, Germany, Norway, and Italy. His division actively investigates zoonotic diseases and clinical immunology applications.
