Per Daniel Sävborg is a Professor of Scandinavian Studies at the University of Tartu, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Institute of Foreign Languages and Cultures. He holds a Doctor's Degree from the University of Stockholm (1997) focusing on Old Norse heroic poetry. His research specializes in Old Norse literature, philology, and folklore, with particular emphasis on Icelandic sagas, Eddic poetry, and medieval Scandinavian cultural studies.
Education:
- 1984–1997: Studies in Cultural Science, History of Literature, and Classical Greek at the University of Stockholm.
Research Interests: His work explores Old Norse philology, textual redaction, formulaic systems in sagas, medieval mythological narratives, and interdisciplinary Viking Age studies. Key themes include Norse cosmology, gender dynamics in poetry, and the interplay between folklore and historical texts.
