Penny Simpson

Penny Simpson is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at King’s Business School, King's College London. She serves as Programme Director for the MSc in Global Human Resource Management and as the CIPD Co-ordinator. Prior to joining King's in 2015, she was the MSc Programme Leader in Human Resource Management at the University of Brighton.

Her educational background includes a doctorate from King's College London, a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics (LSE), and a Graduate Certificate in Change Management from the Australian Graduate School of Management. She is also pursuing a Master of Arts in Cultural and Critical Theory with a focus on Philosophy and Critical Theory.

Penny's research and teaching interests center on Human Resource Management, HRM education, and reflective practice. She is deeply committed to lifelong learning and pedagogical excellence, integrating critical theory and organizational change into her academic work. Her dedication to teaching has been recognized through multiple nominations and awards at both institutions where she has served.

Penny is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has been acknowledged for her contributions to learning and teaching. She has received institutional teaching awards and has been nominated for others, highlighting her impact on student experience and curriculum development.

She is actively involved in academic leadership rather than doctoral supervision, as she is currently not accepting PhD students. Her professional focus remains on programme direction, curriculum innovation, and educational quality enhancement within HRM.

Penny is also passionate about physical challenges and community engagement. She has completed the London Marathon, Tough Mudder, and the National Three Peaks Challenge for charity. She regularly participates in and volunteers for Parkrun events, demonstrating a strong commitment to health and community service.
