Peg Oliveira is an Associate Research Scientist at the Yale Child Study Center and Director of the Gesell Program in Early Childhood Education. A developmental psychologist by training, she works at the intersection of advocacy, social activism, and early childhood education, designing professional development resources for educators and parents. She earned her PhD in Psychology from Brandeis University and a BA in Psychology/English from Fairfield University.

Her research focuses on early childhood education, play-based learning, and developmental psychology, with an emphasis on policy implementation and community impact. Recent work includes advising on Connecticut’s shift to play-based kindergarten curriculum and creating accessible teacher training frameworks.
Scientific contributions include 4 recent articles (2023-2024) analyzing educational policy, age requirements for school enrollment, and systemic implementation of play-based learning. She also serves on advisory boards for the Becket Chimney Corners YMCA (2019-present) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (2018-2022).
