Pedro Rosa-Neto serves as a Professor in the joint Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery and Psychiatry at McGill University. He is a core faculty member of the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre (BIC) and an active participant in the Neuroimaging and Neuroinformatics Research Group at The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital), which operates as a bilingual academic healthcare institution and a McGill research/teaching institute within the McGill University Health Centre's Neuroscience Mission. The Neuro is also recognized as a Killam Institution supported by the Killam Trusts.
With dual qualifications in medicine (MD) and research (PhD), Dr. Rosa-Neto's work centers on structural brain changes in neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Alzheimer's disease. His research program pioneers translational neuroimaging methodologies including novel Positron Emission Tomography (PET) applications for glymphatic system visualization and ultra-high-field 7 Tesla MRI techniques to quantify in vivo dynamics of brain protein aggregation. These innovations target the development of advanced dementia diagnostics and therapeutic pathways through biomarker validation.
As director of the Translational Neuroimaging Laboratory, he integrates cutting-edge imaging technologies with clinical neuroscience to bridge laboratory discoveries and patient care. His leadership in the Neuroimaging and Neuroinformatics Research Group drives collaborative open-science initiatives through frameworks like the Tanenbaum Open Science Institute (TOSI), promoting data sharing and methodological transparency across the global neuroscience community.
