Pedro Rino Vieira is an Assistant Professor of Finance in the Department of Management at ISEG – Higher Institute of Economics and Management, University of Lisbon, where he has been teaching since 2006. He holds a PhD in Management/Finance from the University of Lisbon (2016), a Master’s in Management (2005), and a Bachelor’s in Management (1999), all from ISEG. He is also a researcher affiliated with CSG – Research in Social Sciences and Sociology.
His research spans key areas in finance and management, including ESG performance, corporate finance, capital structure, payout policy, risk management, and behavioral aspects of financial decision-making. He has led and contributed to numerous international teaching and consulting projects in Angola, Mozambique, Turkey, and Iran, and coordinated the joint Master’s in Law and Management between ISEG and the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. Since 2023, he has collaborated with ACTEX to develop corporate finance content for actuarial science candidates.
His recent publications, appearing in journals such as Journal of Business Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and Economies, reflect a strong trend toward sustainability in finance, empirical analysis of corporate behavior, and innovation in financial risk management. Topics include ESG and diversification, dividend policy in high-tech firms, shareholder activism, and the application of log-periodic models to market crashes.

Pedro has supervised over 80 Master’s students, primarily on topics related to investment policy, equity research, and corporate finance.
