Pedro Perez Rothstein

Pedro Perez Rothstein is a Brazilian-Spanish theatre-maker and researcher serving as a Teaching Associate in the School of English and Drama at Queen Mary University of London. He is pursuing a PhD in Drama, supported by a 'la Caixa' Foundation fellowship, focusing on theatres’ roles in mental health and urban dynamics, with case studies in London, Barcelona, and São Paulo. His research interests include applied theatre, directing, dramaturgy, cultural policies, and creative health.

Education: PhD candidate in Drama at Queen Mary University of London (supported by international postgraduate fellowship from 'la Caixa' Foundation). Prior academic and professional background in theatre-making and storytelling.

Research Interests: Explores intersections of theatre with urban mental health, cultural policies, and inclusive practices. Specializes in directing, dramaturgy, and the sociocultural impact of theatres as institutions.

Teaching: Contributes to the MSc Creative Arts and Mental Health program, teaching modules like DRA7010 (Performing Mental Health) and WOFM940 (Critical Mental Health Sciences). Previously taught screenwriting and storytelling at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).

Additional Roles: Project Manager at People’s Palace Projects; member of the International Center for Artistic and Academic Research on Antonin Artaud. Runs a weekly non-assessed Theatre Lab for students, fostering experimental theatre practices.
