Pedro Feitoza is a Lecturer in Latin American Christianity at the School of Divinity, University of Edinburgh, affiliated with the Centre for the Study of World Christianity. His research focuses on the social, cultural, and intellectual history of evangelical Christianity in Brazil, Protestant-Catholic interactions, and the renewal of Catholic thought in the 19th and 20th centuries. He earned his PhD in History from the University of Cambridge (2019), MPhil in History from the University of Brasília (2012), and BA in History and Education from the University Centre of Brasília (2009). Prior to joining Edinburgh, he taught in secondary and higher education institutions in Brazil and served as a postdoctoral fellow at CEBRAP in São Paulo.
Feitoza holds editorial roles as Associate Editor for Studies in World Christianity (Edinburgh University Press) and Member of the Editorial Board for Studies in Christian Mission (E. J. Brill). His research has been supported by grants from the São Paulo Research Foundation (2020-22) and the CAPES-Cambridge Trust (2015-2019). He has received prestigious awards, including the World Christianities Essay Prize (2018) and the Antonio Candido Prize (2022). His work explores the intersections of religious literacy, missionary strategies, and identity formation in Brazil.
Feitoza actively participates in academic conferences and seminars, including the Yale-Edinburgh Conference on Oral, Print, and Digital Cultures in World Christianity (2021), the History of Latin American Evangelicalism Conference (2020), and the Christian Missions in Global History Seminar (2021). His research emphasizes the role of print culture in shaping religious dynamics and the evolution of Latin American Christianities.
