Jeffrey Mosher serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Texas Tech University, specializing in Modern Latin America with concentrated expertise on Brazil's historical and contemporary religious landscape.
He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Florida. His seminal work Political Struggle, Ideology, and State Building: Pernambuco and the Construction of Brazil, 1817-1850 critically examines Brazil's nation-building processes through the lens of political conflicts in Pernambuco province.
Dr. Mosher's current research focuses on ethnographic studies of religion in modern Brazil, particularly at the Odsal Ling Buddhist Temple near São Paulo. His scholarly profile integrates Latin American History, Brazilian History, Religion in Brazil, Buddhism, Political History, and Ethnography. He teaches specialized courses including Global Buddhism, Religion in Latin America, History of Brazil, and Historiography of the World.
