Pedro Candeias is an Invited Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Research Methods at the School of Sociology and Public Policy (ESPP), ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon. He is also an Associate Researcher at CIES-Iscte - Center for Research and Studies in Sociology, where his work centers on gender, life course, and health, with a strong focus on migration, mental health, and social inclusion.
His educational qualifications include a PhD in Sociology (2014–2021) from the University of Lisbon’s Institute of Social Sciences, a Master’s degree in Sociology (Research Branch) from ISCTE (2012), and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from ISCTE (2008).
Candeias' research interests span migration studies, gender, public health, reproductive health, fertility, transnationalism, and the socio-economic integration of marginalized populations, particularly Roma communities and Portuguese emigrants.
