Paweł Nowak

prof. Paweł Nowak is a Professor of Social Communication and Media Studies at Maria Curie-Skłodowskiej University (UMCS), serving as Director of the Centre for Public Communication Research. He holds affiliations with the Institute of Social Communication and Media Studies and the Department of Media Communication, while also serving as a member of the Council of the Polish Language and Chair of the Scientific Council at the Forensic Linguistics Institute "Analityks".

His research focuses on pragmalinguistics, cultural semantics, and linguistic persuasion, analyzing how language constructs social realities in media, politics, and legal contexts. He has extensively studied "SWÓJ-OBCY" dichotomies, conceptual metaphors in political discourse, and evolution of media communication through historical and cultural lenses.

Articles reveal trends in political rhetoric analysis, media discourse framing, linguistic accessibility, and cross-cultural communication. His work spans historical linguistics (PRL-era political language), olympic media representation, and modern plain language initiatives in legal/public communication.

As an educator and trainer, he has mentored in communication theory, media discourse, and public speaking. His institutional roles include scientific directorships at multiple Polish academic centers.

The Centre for Public Communication Research under his leadership examines linguistic patterns in media, political communication, and legal language reform. Recent projects analyze digital communication trends and cross-cultural media representation.
