Pauline Verbeek is a Professor in the Fiber Department at the Kansas City Art Institute, originally from the Netherlands. She earned her BFA in Fine Art from the Maryland Institute (1982) and an MFA in Textile Design from the University of Kansas (1995).

Her research focuses on constructed textiles, emphasizing weaving as a unique medium for image-building through structure, material, and surface treatments. She pioneers the integration of new technologies in hand-weaving and explores industrial Jacquard/Dobby looms in both the Netherlands and the U.S.
Her creative practice bridges Fine Art and applied textiles, producing structurally textured fabrics for apparel and home-furnishings. Her work has been exhibited internationally in France, Austria, Germany, Japan, Korea, Norway, and Australia.
