Professor Pauline Dibben is an Emerita Professor at the Management School of The University of Sheffield and holds an Adjunct Professorship at Griffith University's Centre for Work, Organisation and Well-being in Australia. Her research focuses on employment relations in both advanced and emerging economies, with particular emphasis on global supply chains, institutional theory, and workplace inclusion.
She led the major ESRC-funded 'Supply Chain Accounting and Employment Practices in Rising Economies' project (2014–2020), conducting fieldwork in South Africa and Brazil. Her work examines how global value chains influence HR practices, labour standards, and economic development in regions like Africa, Brazil, and Southeast Asia.
Her teaching includes postgraduate courses on International Human Resource Studies and undergraduate Industrial Relations, emphasizing critical analysis of employment practices across contexts. She has supervised numerous PhD students researching topics such as disability inclusion, labour market segmentation, and union strategies in emerging economies.
Key grants include ESRC/ES/K006452/1 (SCAP-EMP Project) and EPSRC funding. Her research bridges theoretical frameworks like institutional theory with practical challenges in global HRM, public sector innovation, and disability management.
Pauline is an Academic Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development. Her work has contributed to understanding how formal and informal institutions shape employment relations, particularly in post-colonial and transitional economies.
