Paulina Rytkönen is an Associate Professor in Economic History and Senior Lecturer in Business Studies at Södertörn University's School of Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Economic History from Lund University (2004) and has extensive collaborative experience with green industries, food sectors, and restaurant/experience economies. She is a member of multiple academies including the Swedish Royal Academy of Agriculture and Forestry.
Her research explores globalization of agro-food industries, rural development, entrepreneurship, and innovation diffusion. Key projects include Environmental Security (studying hydro-plant impacts), Biological Heritage as Sustainable Value Creator (promoting rural economic sustainability), and Archipelago Partnerships for Business Development (Sweden-Finland cooperation). Recent work focuses on dairy industry internationalization in the Baltic region.
Rytkönen's publications concentrate on island entrepreneurship, innovation dynamics in food systems, and pandemic impacts on rural communities. Her work consistently addresses sustainability, regional resilience, and historical business transformations through interdisciplinary lenses.
