Gustaf Onn is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Department of Informatics and Tourism Sciences at Södertörn University. He has been actively involved in Tourism Studies since 2005, focusing on tourism entrepreneurship, visitor attractions, cultural heritage, and sustainable tourism practices. His roles include Program Coordinator for the Tourism Program (2010–present), Director of Studies for Tourism Studies (2009–2013), and teaching responsibilities such as coordinating the Bachelor's thesis course in Tourism Studies since 2008.
His research emphasizes the interaction between academia and society, exemplified by participation in the EU project TARSI (2010–2011) under the Leonardo Da Vinci Life Long Learning Programme. He also led a study on outdoor activities in the Stockholm region (2013) and contributed to the EU-Interreg Central Baltic project Archipelago Partnerships (later Archipelago Business Development) in 2016, aiming to develop business models in Finnish and Swedish archipelagos.
Higher education pedagogy is central to his practice, evidenced by training in courses like Teacher Workshop, Supervising Independent Work, and Critical Thinking in Teaching. He organized administrative logistics for the international Sustainable Tourism Development conferences at Södertörn University in 2008, 2009, and 2011.
