Paula D. McClain is the James B. Duke Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Professor of Public Policy at Duke University. She serves as a past Dean of The Graduate School and Vice Provost for Graduate Education. Her affiliations include the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences and the Sanford School of Public Policy. McClain earned her Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. from Howard University. Her research focuses on race, ethnicity, and public policy, with notable works on Black political dynamics, Latino-Black relations, and systemic inequalities in academia.
