Paul Whitmarsh

Paul Whitmarsh is a Composition Professorial Staff member in the Academic Studies department at the Guildhall School. His work focuses on chamber and vocal music, often inspired by visual, literary, or dramatic elements. He holds a music degree from Clare College, Cambridge, and studied composition with Julian Anderson at the Royal College of Music.

His compositions, such as Lullaby (premiered by Joyful Company of Singers) and All These Confessions (inspired by Patrick Caulfield's screenprints), have been performed globally at festivals like Aldeburgh and Cheltenham. He has held residencies including Composer-in-Residence at Bedford School and Maingot Trust Fellow at The Warehouse, London.
