معرفی
Professor Paul Thomas is a tenured faculty member at the University of Adelaide's School of Biomedicine within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. His research focuses on identifying and functionally analyzing genes responsible for neurodevelopmental disorders, including intellectual disability, epilepsy, and disorders of sexual development. He has contributed to discovering six causative genes for such conditions and published extensively in top-tier journals like Nature Genetics, accumulating over 5,000 citations. His work has been supported by prestigious awards such as the Pfizer Australia Research Fellowship and NHMRC Program Grant.
Professor Thomas' research interests revolve around genetic disease mechanisms, gene therapy development, and CRISPR-based technologies for modeling diseases like Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. His recent projects include investigating gene drives for invasive species control and exploring Wnt signaling pathways in cardiac development. He actively supervises postgraduate students in these areas.
- Awards: Pfizer Australia Research Fellowship, NHMRC Program Grant
- Key Themes: Neurodevelopmental disorders, genetic engineering, CRISPR applications, gene drive technology
His lab's work intersects molecular genetics, developmental biology, and translational medicine, with applications in both human health and ecological conservation.
