His research focuses on diet’s impact on hypothalamic energy/glucose homeostasis, epigenetic mechanisms in body weight regulation, and anti-obesity therapies. He previously held roles at the University of Cincinnati and Helmholtz Zentrum München, including Deputy Director of the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity.
Education: Biology degree (University of Konstanz, 2000), PhD (German Institute of Human Nutrition). Research highlights include studies on leptin resistance and the molecular causes of diabetes/obesity. Awards include the Young Investigator Award (2002) and Helmholtz Diabetes Award nomination (2016).
