Professor Paul Steffens is a faculty member at the University of Adelaide, holding the position of Professor in Entrepreneurship within the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics. He serves as Director of the Entrepreneurship, Commercialisation, and Innovation Centre (ECIC) and has secured over AUD 1.5 million in research funding. His research focuses on start-up processes and firm growth, with a particular emphasis on resource development, organizational inertia, and innovation diffusion.
Professor Steffens has previously held academic positions at the University of Queensland, Monash University, and visiting roles at international institutions. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours I) and a PhD in diffusion of innovations from the University of Queensland. His work explores entrepreneurship's role in economic growth and social mobility, with specific streams addressing hybrid entrepreneurship, youth/senior/immigrant entrepreneurship, and technological innovation management.
As an active academic, Professor Steffens consults for diverse organizations including Energex, Waitrose, and Monsanto, bridging academic research with practical applications in business and public policy.
