Paul Skokowski is a Consulting Professor in the Symbolic Systems Program at Stanford University and a Fellow in Philosophy at St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford. He serves as the Executive Director of the Center for the Explanation of Consciousness at CSLI, focusing on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of philosophy, neuroscience, and cognitive science.
- Research Interests: Philosophy of mind, cognitive science, philosophy of neuroscience, philosophy of physics, and the nature of qualia. His work explores questions like: Can neuroimaging resolve the knowledge argument? How do superpositions relate to belief? What is the role of externalism in mental content?
- Teaching: Regularly teaches Seminar on Conceptual Issues in Cognitive Science (SYMSYS 207) and Minds and Machines (SYMSYS 1/PHIL 99) at Stanford, often incorporating discussions on pain localization, free will, and zombie hypotheses.
