Paul Sharp is a Professor of Natural Trumpet at the Royal College of Music (RCM) and Head of Brass at Westminster School. As a historically informed performer, he bridges modern and period trumpet traditions through collaborations with ensembles like the English Baroque Soloists, Gabrieli Consort, and Dunedin Consort.

His research interests focus on the evolution of trumpet performance practices, spanning from Giovanni Gabrieli's Renaissance works in Venice to J.S. Bach's Baroque compositions. He specializes in recording and performing with period instruments, notably contributing to the Bach Cantata Pilgrimage and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre's opening season.
Paul Sharp has performed as principal trumpet with major period instrument orchestras including the Academy of Ancient Music and King’s Consort. He has recorded internationally with artists like James Bowman and Iestyn Davies, and worked under conductors such as Claudio Abbado and Sir Simon Rattle.
