معرفی
Paul Moorcroft is a Professor of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University and affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He serves as Chair/Head Tutor for Fall 2025 and leads the Moorcroft Lab, which focuses on ecological dynamics of terrestrial plant communities, biosphere-atmosphere interactions, and mechanistic models of animal movement. His work bridges ecological theory with computational and mathematical biology.
- Research Areas: Ecological modeling, climate change impacts, animal movement ecology, and carbon cycling in ecosystems.
- Labs & Collaborations: Moorcroft Lab at Harvard; collaborations with institutions in Italy, NASA, and environmental science teams.
Scientific Contributions: His recent publications address peatland carbon emissions in Southeast Asia and tropical forest functional trait mapping using satellite remote sensing. These studies highlight the role of ecosystem dynamics in global environmental challenges.
Advising: Acted as advisor for PhD candidate Nathan Ranc (2020), whose research on memory-driven animal space-use patterns integrated field experiments with mechanistic movement models.
