Prof. Paul Minderhoud is a Professor of Law at Utrecht University’s School of Law, specializing in Migration and Societal Change within the Department of International and European Law. His research focuses on regular migration law, EU legal frameworks, and the intersection of migration with social security and citizenship rights. He holds a chair in Regular Migration Law (2019–2024) and collaborates with Utrecht’s UGlobe and RENORCE centers. He also serves as managing editor of the European Journal of Migration and Law and contributes to policy debates through media engagements.
His research emphasizes EU migration policies, free movement principles, and legal challenges in border control, family reunification, and return procedures. Recent publications address the Dutch 'Linking Principle' in social security coordination, refugee integration into labor markets, and post-pandemic migrant worker mobility. He teaches courses like 'Capita Selecta: Migrants and Equal Treatment' and advises on migration law cases through JV (Jurisprudentie Vreemdelingenrecht).
