Paul Matthews is an Honorary Professor and Visiting Professor at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London. He holds qualifications including LLB (1977, London), BCL (1979, Oxon), and LLD (1996, London). His research focuses on Property Law, Trusts, Inheritance Law, and Comparative Law, with expertise in Jersey and Guernsey legal systems and Coroners’ Law.
He has received multiple awards, including the Charlotte Ashby Prize and Mould Scholarship (Gray’s Inn). His judicial roles include part-time Judge of the Court of Trusts and Fiduciary Relations (Republic of San Marino, 2014–) and Specialist Civil Circuit Judge (Chancery, 2017–). He has also served as Deputy Chancery Master (2008–15) and HM Coroner for the City of London (2002–16).
Matthews has authored seminal works such as Disclosure (5th ed, 2017) and co-edited Underhill & Hayton, Law of Trusts and Trustees (19th ed, 2015). His teaching includes the LLM in International and Comparative Trust Law. Editorial roles include Assistant Editor of Trust Law International (1995–2011) and contributions to Jersey and Guernsey Law Review.
