Paul Lester is a Research Fellow at Loughborough University's National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM), where he contributes to the Healthy & Innovative Loughborough Project led by Professor Fehmidah Munir. His work focuses on identifying and addressing barriers to physical activity in Charnwood. Previously, he held roles including Senior Public Health Intelligence Analyst at UKHSA, Lecturer in Exercise Physiology at the University of East London, and Research Assistant at the University of Derby.
- Education:
- BSc (First Class Honours) in Sport and Exercise Science, University of Derby (2015)
- PhD in Exercise Physiology (focusing on gut microbiota’s role in exercise-induced bronchoconstriction), Nottingham Trent University (completed during his PhD, he also worked as a Performance Nutritionist with Nova Centurion Swimming Club and lectured at NTU).
His research interests span public health, sports nutrition, and the clinical applications of exercise science. He has expertise in translating research into practical solutions for health promotion and community engagement.
