Paul Landau is Professor of History at the University of Maryland, specializing in African history, visual culture, and revolutionary movements. His award-winning book Spear: Mandela and the Revolutionaries re-examines anti-apartheid activism. Landau's work spans colonial photography, Christian missions in Africa, and Cold War politics.
He has twice been a Herskovits Prize finalist and leads research on international anti-apartheid networks. Current projects include global solidarity movements against apartheid.
