Natalia Telepneva is a Lecturer in International History at the University of Strathclyde's Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. Her work focuses on Soviet foreign policy, Cold War dynamics in Africa, and the history of socialism in the Global South. She holds a PhD from the London School of Economics (2015) and has taught at prestigious institutions including University of Warwick and LSE.
Her research emphasizes Soviet engagement with African anti-colonial movements, particularly in Portuguese territories. Key projects include analyzing Soviet military training programs and Cold War-era development aid. She co-edited the 2018 Warsaw Pact Intervention in the Third World and is currently researching Soviet-African relations post-1974. Funded by the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship (2017-2020), her work integrates oral histories from Guinea-Bissau with archival research.
