Paul Jeanes

Paul Jeanes is a Professor and Division Chair of the Foundation Program at Montserrat. He holds a BFA from the University of North Carolina Asheville and an MFA from the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art. His academic focus includes interdisciplinary art and design curricula, emphasizing the synthesis of creative thinking and making. He recently led the 2020 redesign of the AP Art and Design portfolio exams.

His studio practice integrates painting, drawing, photography, and installation to explore perceptual abstraction derived from everyday experiences. Critics describe his work as engaging with optical quandaries and shifting perspectives, creating immersive visual environments.

Prior roles include administrative positions at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and faculty roles at Maryland Institute College of Art and Towson University.
