Paul J. Buchholz is Associate Professor of German Studies at Emory University, specializing in 20th-21st century prose. He holds a PhD from Cornell University.
His research examines narrative experiments challenging concepts of community in contexts like environmental crisis. Current projects analyze ecological alienation in Austrian literature and transnational collectivity. Publications explore German-language responses to planetary crisis from 1968 onward.
Awards include the Mary W. Johnson Faculty Achievement Award (2015) and DAAD/Fulbright grants. He coordinates study abroad programs and the Honors program.
He teaches courses on German literature, environmental humanities, and political theory.
