Professor Paul Holland is a Professor of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Swansea University, serving as Associate Dean International in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. His roles include advancing internationalization efforts and transforming higher education practices through active and blended learning initiatives. He holds a PhD in Power Integrated Circuit (PIC) Technologies and has over a decade of industry experience in semiconductors.
His research spans decarbonization of energy systems, climate emergency education, and semiconductor technologies. Notable projects include developing a CMOS platform for Lab-On-A-Chip applications in immunological studies and energy sector innovations, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). He leads collaborative projects with nanotechnologists, biologists, and medical scientists to bridge engineering and life sciences.
Professor Holland champions Education 4.0, emphasizing digital tools in active learning environments. He co-leads international online modules for global engineering design and has pioneered blended learning pilots at Swansea. His work explores how technologies enhance student engagement and transform traditional teaching spaces into dynamic, collaborative hubs.
