Paul Harris is an Associate Professor at Pennsylvania State University. He previously served at the University of Virginia, where he was an associate professor in the Counselor Education program and a faculty affiliate with the Center for Race and Public Education in the South. His work focuses on promoting equity, access, and justice in K-12 school counseling programs.

Professor Harris’s research centers on three areas: (1) college and career readiness for underserved students, (2) identity development of Black male student-athletes, and (3) training school counselors to implement comprehensive programs that address systemic inequities. He also designed a strengths-based curriculum for counseling student athletes, including a course dedicated to the Black student athlete experience.
Harris founded Men Passionately Pursuing Purpose (MP3), a program supporting Black male athletes. His work has received funding from the NCAA. He contributes to the academic community as a member of the editorial review board for the Professional School Counseling Journal and the senior advisory board for The Professional Counselor journal. He previously served as President of the Virginia School Counselor Association and on the board of the American School Counselor Association.
