Paul Hansom is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Literatures in English at Ithaca College. He holds a Ph.D. in English (2000), an M.F.A. in Fiction and Drama (2001), and an M.A. in English (1991) from the University of Southern California, as well as an M.A. in American Studies (1989) from Nottingham University and a B.A. in English and History (1987) from the University of Staffordshire.
His research focuses on literary modernism, photography, and cultural studies, with particular emphasis on intersections between narrative theory, gender, and historical context. He has explored the therapeutic role of documentary art, psychic geography in experimental writing, and the American South as a modernist space.
Hansom has reviewed for prominent journals such as American Literature, Contemporary Literature, and Black Camera. His publications include critical essays on Henry Miller, Sam Shepard, and the visual representation of violence in American culture.
