Dr Paul Griffiths is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics at Aston University's College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, affiliated with the School of Computer Science and Digital Technologies and the Aston Fluids Group. He holds a PhD (2015) and MSc (2012) from the University of Birmingham. His research focuses on fluid mechanics, particularly non-Newtonian fluids, boundary layer stability, and drag reduction methods. He leads an EPSRC-funded project on novel drag reduction techniques and supervises PhD, Masters, and undergraduate projects in fluid mechanics. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and contributes to the UK Fluids Network's Special Interest Groups on non-Newtonian fluid mechanics and boundary layer dynamics.
His work spans theoretical and computational studies, including exact solutions for non-Newtonian channel flows and stability analyses of rotating disk and stretching sheet flows. Collaborations include the University of Sydney and over 18 peer-reviewed articles. Key research areas include thermal effects in boundary layers, viscoelastic fluid dynamics, and experimental validation of numerical models. His contributions address challenges in industrial fluid systems and fundamental fluid mechanics principles.
