معرفی
Professor Paul Greenhaff is a Professor at the School of Life Sciences, University of Nottingham. His research focuses on muscle metabolism, the effects of physical inactivity on health, metabolic disorders, and post-COVID-19 recovery. He has contributed to major studies such as the PHOSP-COVID initiative and the DYNAMO-COVID project, investigating long-term health outcomes following hospitalization for SARS-CoV-2 infection. His work also spans diabetes epidemiology, trauma resuscitation strategies, and the metabolic impacts of immobility in aging populations. He has secured significant research funding, including a £5.1M grant for bio-instructive medical devices and Innovate UK support for spin-out companies. Professor Greenhaff collaborates with international teams to address chronic disease mechanisms and frailty through interdisciplinary approaches. His research integrates physiology, metabolomics, and clinical trials to advance understanding of human health resilience.
Key projects include exploring muscle deconditioning in inflammatory bowel disease, creatine supplementation’s role in muscle health, and the metabolic consequences of prolonged bed rest. His findings highlight the critical role of physical activity in mitigating age-related functional decline and post-illness recovery. Collaborative efforts with the Medical School and multidisciplinary teams at the University of Nottingham further his mission to bridge basic science and clinical applications.
