Paul Goldbart

Paul Goldbart is a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University. He has held academic leadership roles including founding director of the Anthony James Leggett Institute at the University of Illinois, dean of the College of Sciences at Georgia Tech, dean of the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin, and Provost at Stony Brook University. His current research focuses on condensed matter physics, including nanoscale superconductivity, quantum chaos, molecular organization in liquid crystals, and quantal phases in mesoscopic systems. He has also contributed to quantum information theory and co-authored a mathematics textbook for physics graduate students.

Goldbart's career spans over three decades, combining theoretical physics research with academic administration. He currently serves as an Honorary Member of the Aspen Center for Physics and on the Board of Directors of Brookhaven Science Associates. His work emphasizes collaboration across disciplines and empowering researchers through institutional leadership.
