Paul Froese is a Professor of Sociology at Baylor University and Director of the Baylor Religion Surveys. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Washington (2003), an M.A. in Sociology (1999) and M.A. in Philosophy (1992) from the University of Washington and University of Wisconsin, respectively, and a B.A. in Russian from Grinnell College (1990). His research focuses on the sociology of religion, examining its intersections with politics, mental health, and cultural change. Froese has authored three books, including *The Plot to Kill God*, *America’s Four Gods*, and *On Purpose*, exploring secularization, religious diversity, and meaning-making. His recent work analyzes prayer’s impact on mental well-being, pandemic emotions, and Christian nationalism. Froese collaborates actively with scholars like Jeremy Uecker and Rebecca Bonhag, producing influential studies on religion, politics, and societal trends.
His research interests span Sociology of Religion, Political Sociology, and Cultural Change. Notable contributions include empirical studies on secularization dynamics and the psychological dimensions of religious practices. Froese’s publications frequently bridge theoretical frameworks with empirical data, offering insights into how religion shapes—and is shaped by—social structures and individual experiences.
