Paul Foster is a Professor of Ophthalmic Epidemiology & Glaucoma Studies at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, with a focus on glaucoma epidemiology, genetics, and public health. He serves as Honorary Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2004.

Research Interests: Primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG), intraocular pressure genetics, neurodegenerative parallels (e.g., Alzheimer's), and environmental factors (air pollution) affecting ocular health. He leads major cohort studies including the EPIC-Norfolk Eye Study and UK Biobank Eye Study.
Scientific Contributions: Pioneered modern PACG classification (2002), identified genetic loci for glaucoma (2012-2018), and demonstrated lens extraction efficacy for PACG treatment (2016 Lancet trial). Currently exploring AI-enabled retinal vasculometry and post-COVID healthcare recovery through Project HERCULES (2020-present).
