Gus Gazzard is a Professor of Glaucoma Studies at the Institute of Ophthalmology, University College London, and a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. His academic and clinical work focuses on glaucoma management, particularly angle-closure glaucoma and selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT).

Research Interests include:
- Angle-closure glaucoma pathogenesis and treatment

- Anterior segment imaging techniques and epidemiology of myopia
His landmark LiGHT Trial (2012-2019) established SLT as a first-line treatment for ocular hypertension and glaucoma. Earlier work in Singapore on the Singapore-5FU and ACLIPS trials shaped glaucoma surgical standards.
