Paul Dudchenko is a Professor in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Stirling, United Kingdom, with a joint appointment at the University of Edinburgh's Centre for Cognitive and Neural Systems where he co-leads the Memory and Space Laboratory. His academic journey includes postdoctoral research at Dartmouth College and Boston University.
His research examines the neural underpinnings of memory and spatial cognition, with specific expertise in head direction cells, place cells, and spatial navigation mechanisms. His work bridges animal and human studies to understand why people get lost and how the brain creates cognitive maps.
Notable achievements include:
- Recipient of the 2020 D.G. Marquis Behavioral Neuroscience Award
- Organizer of international workshops bridging neuroscience and dementia design
- Invited keynote speaker at the Royal Institute of Navigation International Conference
He actively seeks PhD candidates for spatial cognition research and maintains collaborations across the UK and internationally (e.g., UK-Korea Neuroscience Symposium).
