Dr. Paul Dent is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC), specializing in biomedical technology and environmental chemistry. He joined STAC in 2016 and teaches courses such as Quantitative Analysis, Biochemistry, and Environmental Chemistry. His research focuses on applying engineering innovations to diagnose and treat diseases, earning him a $10,000 grant for laboratory equipment in 2020.
Dr. Dent holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Marietta College and a MPhil/Ph.D. in Chemistry from Syracuse University. He actively engages students through hands-on demonstrations and mentors independent research projects. Notable advisees include Devin Beckmann (medical school applicant) and graduates pursuing careers in forensic science, veterinary medicine, and biochemistry.
He is a frequent guest speaker at the STAC Science Club, using creative experiments to illustrate chemical principles.
